Face cards and Ten cards are worth ten points, numerical cards retain their value and Ace cards are either considered as eleven or one by the player.

After the initial distribution of 2 cards each, dealer then returns the first player and deals individually, the player can then take a 'hit'(an additional card) or can 'stand'(take no more cards). In a casino dealer does not take verbal commands, instead you have to scratch the table with your hand to indicate 'hit' or wave your hand down to indicate 'stand'. If you decide to take a hit and your total exceeds 21, you automatically lose. At the end of the hand, if your total is close to 21 you win else the dealer wins.
